For your convenience, FAQs are organized into General, Hunting, and Weddings & Events. You may notice a few questions appear in more than one section—this is intentional, so you can easily find important information no matter which category you’re browsing.

General FAQs
Yes, leashed pets are allowed on the property. We have 2 pet friendly cabins ($20 per pet) and 6 kennels available (first come first serve) to keep your furry friends safe. Pets are not allowed inside the Event Center, Villas, Main Lodge, Cottage, and select cabins.
The Event Center has 3 highchairs and 1 booster in the kitchen closet. The Main Lodge has 2 highchairs and 1 booster in the dining room. The Cottage has 1 highchair and 1 booster in the garage and entry way closet.
Yes, each room is equipped with fresh clean bedding and an adequate number of towels for each guest.
Only Granite Spring’s guests can enjoy the beach and lake.

For the safety of our guests, we do not allow the use of any ATV’s, UTV’s, or golf carts by our guests.
Yes. We also have grills available for guest use, an industrial kitchen in the Main Lodge and Event Center, and a list of recommended caterers. Alcohol is allowed in the lodging areas, but not the event center.
Yes. Gift certificates are available upon request.
You are more than welcome to bring your own fishing equipment. However, for your convenience, Granite Springs rents fishing poles for $20/pole.
We have 6 camping spots available only for overflow of existing guests. 5 are in front of the Main Lodge and 1 next to the Cottage. They are 30-amp electrical hookups with no water/sewer hookups.
Every building has access to wi-fi and is free of charge.

A signed contract and non-refundable deposit are required to secure your date. You can place a hold on a date at no charge.
The Main Lodge has 21 beds (6 beds upstairs, 3 bedrooms) (15 beds downstairs, 6 bedrooms).
The Cottage has 14 beds (3 beds in loft, 1 room) (5 beds main level, 2 bedrooms) (6 beds in basement, 2 bedrooms)
The Cabins have 14 beds in 7 individual rooms. Each cabin has 2 beds. (2 pet friendly cabins, $20 per pet)
The Villas have 8 beds. Villas 1& 5 have 1 bed, while the rest have 2.
We also have 6 camping spots. 1 next to the Cottage, and 5 in front of the Main Lodge. (30 amp electric hookup/no water or sewer hookup)
A security deposit of $500 is required to rent the Event Center, $500 for the Main Lodge, $500 for the Cottage, $500 for the Villas and $500 for all cabins. No security deposit is required to rent individual cabins or villas. Once the deposit and a signed contract is received, the reservation gets confirmed.
No, a fishing license is not required because Granite Spring’s private lake is “catch & release” only.
Firewood can be purchased for $10/bundle. The beach, Cottage, and Main Lodge all have firepits. The Villas have a gas firepit.
The Event Center, Main Lodge dining room, and Villa #2 are handicap accessible.
Yes, we are a year-round destination.
You will be the only guests if you rent the entire property, otherwise the property may be rented by different parties.
There is a 3 night minimum for the lodge and cottage.
No, our beach gear is free for our guests. Life jackets are mandatory for anyone swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or paddle boarding in the lake.
The Main Lodge master suite has a washer and dryer unit, as well as the Cottage entry way.
Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing, sand volleyball, horseshoes, yard games, nature trails, and campfires provide endless opportunities for fun with your friends and family.
The World’s Only Corn Palace, Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village, McGovern Legacy Museum, Village Bowl and Odyssey Luxury 5 Theater are just a few of the local attractions.

Deposits are non-refundable. Any payments made will be forfeited unless otherwise approved.
While gratuity is not included or required, it is greatly appreciated by our team. Typical gratuity is around 15–20% of total service cost. All gratuity gets split between guides, cooks/serving staff, and cleaners.
Guests can check into lodging at 3:00p.m. and must be checked out by 11a.m. Upon checking out, please ensure you have completed the items on the checkout list prior to leaving. Guests do not need to strip beds.
Check in for the Event Center is 9:00a.m. and check out is 12:00a.m.
Walleye, bass, trout, crappie, blue gill, and northern pike.
Hairdryers are placed in the bathrooms of: the Cottage’s master bedroom, and the Main Lodge upstairs bathroom. Also every cabin and villa.
Alexandria, South Dakota
Sioux Falls Regional Airport is located 59 miles east of Granite Springs Lodge. Mitchell Municipal Airport is located 22 miles northwest of Granite Springs Lodge.
Butch’s Tavern and RJ’s Sport Bar and Grill are in Alexandria, 1-2 miles from Granite Springs Lodge.
Friendly’s Fuel Stop/Pizza Hut is in Alexandria, 1-2 miles from Granite Springs Lodge.
Total Stop is 8 miles from Granite Springs Lodge in Emery. Walmart, County Fair, and Coborn’s are all located in Mitchell approximately 15 miles from Granite Springs Lodge.
RJ’s Sport Bar and Grill is in Alexandria, 1-2 miles from Granite Springs Lodge.
Sandy’s Bar is located in Emery, SD, 10 miles east of Granite Springs Lodge.
Hunting FAQs
Our Pheasant hunts are fully guided.
Yes, we do have packages for non-hunters that want to come stay at the lodge.
Yes! All trained hunting dogs are welcome at Granite Springs Lodge! Please note that under certain circumstances you may be asked to put your dog away if it becomes an obstruction or causes disturbances during the hunt.
Yes! Granite Springs Lodge would be happy to help you get your license when you arrive! We are affiliated with South Dakota Game Fish and Parks as licensing agents.

Yes! Our guides have highly trained hunting dogs.
All of the fields that we hunt are within 15 minutes away from the lodge.
Your hunt will last until you get your guaranteed limit of birds. Depending on size of group a typical hunt usually takes anywhere from 2 – 5 hours.
No, but we do have ammunition available for purchase.
- General gun safety rules should be practiced at all times.
- Muzzle control should be maintained at all times.
- Firearms should be unloaded while in the lodge and vehicles.
- Hunters must identify their target and what is beyond it before shooting.
- Keep your finger off of the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Never shoot at birds on the ground.
- Never shoot at low flying birds below the horizon.
- Do not shoot predators (coyotes, racoons, etc.) or anything else on the ground.
- Safety glasses should be worn at all times. They can be provided if necessary.
- Ear protection is up to the discretion of the hunter.
- Alcohol consumption is prohibited before or during hunting activities.

- Blaze Orange (South Dakota law requires at least ONE piece of blaze orange (florescent blaze pink is now acceptable) clothing be worn above the waist)

- Cold and warm weather clothing – We recommend checking the weather forecast for Alexandria, SD for your hunting dates and packing accordingly as we hunt rain, snow, or shine!

Non-Preserve daily pheasant bag limit is 3 pheasants per person per day.

While hunting with Granite Springs Lodge, you will have access to prime pheasant hunting land as we only hunt private land. You will also have local guides that know the area very well.

Regular season is the third weekend in October Through January 31st
Wedding/Events FAQs
Yes! You are welcome to bring in any outside vendors. We are happy to provide our preferred vendor recommendations.
Absolutely! We have two beautiful outdoor ceremony locations. You are also able to do your ceremony inside. There is no extra charge for ceremony on-site.

The Event Center can entertain 299 guests with outdoor seating available for an additional 100 guests.
Our shuttle is an option to transport guests to Mitchell that are attending an event held at the Event Center.
Yes! We have villas, cabins, a main lodge and a cottage. All subject to availability.
We have a bar service called GSL Entertainment LLC. All alcohol in the event center must be furnished under GSL’s liquor license. Otherwise, a license will be required.
Black, white, and ivory are the options included in your package.
