Yes! All trained hunting dogs are welcome at Granite Springs Lodge! Please note that under certain circumstances you may be asked to put your dog away if it becomes an obstruction or causes disturbances during the hunt.
Yes! Granite Springs Lodge would be happy to help you get your license when you arrive! We are affiliated with South Dakota Game Fish and Parks as licensing agents.

Yes! Our guides have highly trained hunting dogs.
All of the fields that we hunt are within 15 minutes away from the lodge.
Your hunt will last until you get your guaranteed limit of birds. Depending on size of group a typical hunt usually takes anywhere from 2 – 5 hours.
No, but we do have ammunition available for purchase.
- General gun safety rules should be practiced at all times.
- Muzzle control should be maintained at all times.
- Firearms should be unloaded while in the lodge and vehicles.
- Hunters must identify their target and what is beyond it before shooting.
- Keep your finger off of the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Never shoot at birds on the ground.
- Never shoot at low flying birds below the horizon.
- Do not shoot predators (coyotes, racoons, etc.) or anything else on the ground.
- Safety glasses should be worn at all times. They can be provided if necessary.
- Ear protection is up to the discretion of the hunter.
- Alcohol consumption is prohibited before or during hunting activities.
We recommend bringing:
- Shotgun
- Ammunition (We do have ammunition available for purchase)
- Blaze Orange (South Dakota law requires at least ONE piece of blaze orange (florescent blaze pink is now acceptable) clothing be worn above the waist)
- Eye & Ear Protection
- Upland Hunting Vest
- Waterproof Hunting Boots
- Protective Brush Pants
- Cold and warm weather clothing – We recommend checking the weather forecast for Alexandria, SD for your hunting dates and packing accordingly as we hunt rain, snow, or shine!

Non-Preserve daily pheasant bag limit is 3 pheasants per person per day.
While gratuity is not included or required, it is greatly appreciated by our team. Typical gratuity is around 15–20% of total service cost. All gratuity gets split between guides, cooks/serving staff, and cleaners.
While hunting with Granite Springs Lodge, you will have access to prime pheasant hunting land as we only hunt private land. You will also have local guides that know the area very well.
Preserve season is September 1st through March 31st
Regular season is the third weekend in October Through January 31st
